- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 3/4 tsp baking soda
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 3/4 tsp allspice
- 1/4 tsp cloves
- 3/4 cup butter, room temperature
- 3/4 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup molasses
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/3 cup chopped crystalized ginger
Preheat ovven to 350°. Grease and flour a 9×13 pan.
Sift dry ingredients together. Beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs 1 at a time. Beat in molasses. Mix in dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Mix in crystallized ginger. Bake until springy to touch, about 50 minutes.
